Easter

It is a bit late for Easter posts, but better late than never.  (Fewer cute bunnies to compete with now…hehe)  I hope you all had a good Easter, and I really mean that. :)

I am overwhelmed when I think about how the Lord of the universe, the Son of God, that perfect, gentle, meek, immaculate, beloved prince shed his blood for me.  The man who could walk on water and heal any affliction, even death.  The man who had previously escaped without a trace from amongst those who were after him, simply walking away and they not able to lay a hand on him.  He LET himself be arrested.  He faced his greatest dread—becoming sin so he could defeat it and suffer the recompense for what he did not do.  For me.  How little have I done for him compared to that?  How many times have I betrayed him?  How often have I denied him with my silence?  Even though he is in my heart.

Just the fact that he would love me is amazing, but it is unfathomable for him to give himself for me and for the prince of light to come live in as dark a place as my heart.  The lightest part of me is jet black, eternal night compared to the brilliant glow of his compassion and love.  My deepest empathy is callous compared to his compassion.

God’s love is the most powerful of all.  It is infinite.  Because he gave his precious son, Jesus, who is infinite in worth, for me.  If I, you, or any of us were a perfect god with a son like Jesus, would we give him for a world that rejected all goodness?  It would make more sense for God to save his own son and let the world perish, Jesus would be worth it.  But he didn’t.  God gave Jesus for the world, and the world has never been the same since the miracle of Jesus’ resurrection.

Something to think about now that all the candy, bunnies, pageants, and busy times to do with the Easter celebration and holiday are over.

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.
